MassKara Festival 2016

MassKara Festival’s name was derived from the words ‘mass’, meaning ‘many’, and ‘kara’, meaning ‘face’. The tradition started in the 1980s, when the locals would usually wear smiling masks during the festival. Dated back when Bacolod experienced a crisis when the price of sugar dropped globally, and was followed by an accident which lost a lot of people in the city, MassKara Festival brought a huge positivity in the hearts of the locals, making them overcome the phenomena.

Every festival involves the locals participation by showcasing their talents, and skills, while enjoying live music, and exploring the abundant culture of Bacolod, Philippines.
