A total of 55 bags were extracted from blood donors by health professionals during the event.
According to Ms. Antonette Guese Avila, president of Pinay Ikaw Na, the medical and dental mission is one way of showing concerns to fellow OFWs who have limited access in basic health care.
Services rendered range from medical consultations to dental check-up and cleaning, eye examination, blood pressure and blood sugar screening. The recipients also received complimentary medicines and vitamins.
“The event was so amazing and meaningful as you can see the from the faces of blood donors the feeling of being proud to help save lives”, Dina Sta. Ana, one of the organizers said.
Other groups who voluntarily came for blood donation were identified from Fil-Am Bahrain led by Mr. Romeo Tagulao, Travelers Tribe, Discovery Islam and Akro.
Eye glasses and cash vouchers from sponsors were raffled during the event.
In carrying out its corporate social responsibility into action, Sherry Spa, provided free foot massage during the event. A total of 20 beneficiaries availed of their service.
Volunteer doctors and dentists who joined the activity were Dr. Neil Banez, Dr. Anwar, Dr. Sarah Andulaziz, Dr. Rowena, Hernandez and Dr. Grace Estacio.
The activity was carried out by Pinay Ikaw Na in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Embassy, King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), Pilipino sa Bansang Bahrain (PBB), Fil _ Am, Bahrain, Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Akro, Bikers, Kaisa ng mga Filipina, UMMA, Discovery Islam, Muslim Tausug Association in Bahrain (MTAB).
Sponsors include Pinoy Gilid Bahrain, Eye Care Optical Center, Travellers Tribe, Almareej Manpower, Houras Consultancy, NDC, New Cabalen Restaurant and Sherry Spa.
